Where to begin? 2023 was supposed to be the beginning of my Music Heals project, including new shows and a podcast. Turned out to be the beginning of the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced. Wasn’t feeling my best with stomach issues. A doctor visit and CT scan revealed two cancerous tumors in my bladder.Life and the stomach issue were put on hold to prioritize the bladder. I underwent surgery to remove the tumors, and was happy to hear that we didn’t have to remove my bladder which was the Doctor’s first impression. We will be following up with treatments to prevent the cancer from returning. But first, we’ll be having a second surgery to remove a large kidney stone before we can proceed. All this has nothing to do with the stomach issue that brought me to the Dr to begin with. It was just good luck or karma that we found the cancer. I’m blessed in that regard. In the meantime, I’ve been sidelined for 4+ months. No Music Heals, no driving Uber. Only my SS and the help from family for income.
Wasn’t going to share this story, but some have told me that my story might inspire others in similar situations. Hope so. Truth is, my financial crisis is becoming larger than my pride. Who knows? Maybe my story will go viral and I’ll have one less thing to think about. Right now I have to focus on these health issues. I’m determined to get back. Just not sure, if or when, I can work again.
